Demolishing before selling — Once demolition begins, equipment is often damaged beyond resale value. Always remove valuable equipment before demolition.
Ignoring small items — A facility with 500 circuit breakers, 200 motors, and 100 disconnect switches has significant aggregate value even though individual items may seem small.
Not documenting condition — Equipment that was working when de-energized is worth more than equipment of unknown condition. Document operational status before shutdown.
